1. Visit Portara

 

The Portara is a huge marble gate of a hundred square temple that began to be built in the 6th BC. century, in honor of the God Apollo, in Naxos. It is located on the islet of Palatia, at the northern end of the port of Naxos, which is only 600m from our House.

From the Portara you can also see the enchanting sunset.

 

2. Visit the old VenetianCastle

 

Naxos Castle is in fact the old Venetian Town of Naxos. Along with the Tower of Glezos, it served as a protective shield to the impregnable fortress of Sanoudos in Chora.
It was originally built under the supervision of Markos II Sanoudos (the Venetian conqueror after whom it was named), who came along with the establishment of Frankish sovereignty over the Aegean Sea in 1207.
For its construction, materials from a preexisting ancient acropolis were used.

You can either walk in this area or visit a museum that it is inside the castle.

3.Stroll around Chora, the Town

 

 

 

Chora is the capital of Naxos and expands all the way from the port to Kastro. Anything you know about Cycladic architecture, you will find it here. Whitewashed, sugar cube houses with painted blue doors and windows, small chapels, arches, and endless narrow paved alleys, make this labyrinth so charming.
This citadel is the center of life on the island. It is lively, with many restaurants, taverns, cafes, bars, and shops.

 

 

4.Explore the island's villages with your car or the bus

 

 

 

Apart from its beaches, Naxos is also famous for its picturesque villages. It is necessary to visit them, as this way you will feel the life of the locals of the island.Also, there are some of the best traditional restaurants in the island.

Some of the most famous villages are Halki, Filoti, Koronos and Apeiranthos

 

 

5. Visit the beaches with crystal clear water 

 

 

 

 

 

Beaches in Naxos Greece are different from the beaches in other islands of the Cyclades, due to their characteristic length. Most of them have soft white sand and crystal blue waters.In brief, the most beautiful sandy beaches are located on the western side of the island, which is also the most touristy developed part.

Ayios Georgios Beach , Plaka Beach, Ayios Prokopios, Ayia Anna Beach, Psilli Ammos, Alyko, Kastraki and Alyko Beach

 

 

 

 

6. Sailing Boats nearby escapes

 

 

 

 

 

In Naxos there is a variety of Sailing boats and Catamarans that do trips in nearby islands. This is a unique trip as you spend your day in the sea and in the boat, explore hidden gems like beaches and small undeveloped islands, see other islands and do activities onboard.
